The Shimano
Vanford has become a legendary reel, long before it became available in the
market. It is the net result of over a decade of engineering advancement and a
rich lineage of predecessors, the new Vanford tests the boundaries of
technology and engineering found in spinning reels. Built upon a CI4+ body for
both a lightweight feel and carbon rigidity, the Vanford incorporates a Magnum
Lite (MGL) Rotor which makes the reel 48% lighter to turn when compared to a
standard rotor design, for a quick response in critical situations.
The all new Vanford, which is up to 9% lighter, has been designed to
become the ultimate finesse fishing reel with a super-fast start up. Replacing
the iconic Stradic Ci4+, this reel is equipped with a range of technology
upgrades that sets the Vanford apart. The Vanford features Shimano’s
cold-forged Hagane Gear and many of Shimano’s premium technologies for
increased fishing performance and years of durability.
Vanford’s Silent Drive and MicroModule Gear II technologies combine to
produce a new level of smooth rotational performance, while reducing overall
reel vibration. Vanford also incorporates Long Stroke Spool technology to
increase casting distance, while producing a smoother line lay on the spool
during retrieval. Casting performance has also been improved.
X-Protect technology and water-channeling construction enhances Vanford’s
water resistance and overall durability — an important feature for a reel sure
to be found in inshore environments. By combining Shimano’s water-repellent
coating and specially designed water channelling construction, X-Protect
provides high-level water resistance without sacrificing light gear and rotor
rotation. Now anglers will have an improved ability to finesse casts more
accurately and transition to working the lure with ease.
Cross Carbon drag washers are fitted to the 4000 and 5000 models for added
power.
The Vanford Compact 5000 size features the same body design as the 4000
size, but with a deeper spool to provide larger line capacity and a power
handle knob, for targeting hard fighting species. Weighing 220g, the Vanford C
5000 matches perfectly with a range of rod ratings from 4-8 kg to 5-10 kg and
can be spooled with up to 30Lb braid. Featuring 7+1 bearings, a 6.2:1 gear
ratio, and an upgraded Cross Carbon Drag System with 11kg of power.
Inside the Vanford boxes, you will find 5 adhesive stripes. These are to
secure the first knott before reeling your braid, or line onto the spool.
