The Shimano Beastmaster XB is the renewed version of the Beastmaster XTA/XSA big pit reel.
It comes in a very competitive price point and at this price level the angler will have an excellent working reel, which is strong and durable. The 10000 size aluminum spool holds 400 m of 0.35 mm line, which is more than enough for both carp anglers who want to fish far out and surf anglers who want to make long casts.
The instant drag is smooth and reliable. The Shimano Beastmaster XB has 1+1 A-RB bearings. The Gear Ratio is exactly where it is needed to be (5,6:1), coupled by the 100 cm line retrieve per reel handle turn (360 degrees).
Shimano did not neglect the aesthetics side of this Casting reel and gave it a matt black finishing, with grey details. This classic color is chosen so the reel matches (color wise) with almost every rod in the market and this black colour is appreciated by carp anglers as well.

Instant Drag allows the drag setting to be switched from free spool to a ‘fight’ setting by tightening the Instant Drag lever on the front of the spool in only a few turns.
Super Slow Spool Oscillation reduces the speed the line travels up and down the spool on the cast. This results less friction as line leaves the spool and reduced drag on the lead, which improves casting distance and accuracy. Shimano Standard Oscillation (up to 20 wraps per cycle) outperforms the industry standard. Shimano Slow Oscillating (up to 40 wraps per cycle) exceeds almost anything else ever seen. Shimano now has two Super Slow Oscillation systems Super Slow 5 (55 wraps) and Super Slow 10 (105 wraps).
Cold Forging (a Shimano proprietary technology) is the heart of Shimano’s quality engineering and manufacturing. It enables us to make components out of one piece metal which assures increased strength, higher abbrasion resistance, higher resistance against impact damage and rigidity. Cold Forging is used on drive gears, spools and handles.
Shimano ARC Spool is a patented spool design with an angled spool lip. This design enables the line to leave the spool with less friction and in smaller coils resulting in longer more accurate casts. ARC spools are proven to reduce backlash and wind knots when using braid.
Superb line lay is a Shimano reels hallmark. Fed by Power Roller, the Aero system lays close, parallel coils (Aero Wrap) so line builds evenly on the spool and exits cleanly with minimum friction for longer, more accurate casts.
